June 20, 2024Last Friday was a bittersweet moment for the CBE family as they gathered to celebrate 29 years of dedication and hard work by Mary-Jane Zwane who has retired.
Zwane was stationed in the under the then General Services department, now referred to as Property Development & Maintenance, and has left an indelible mark under the Currency Division where she spent most of her time. She joined the Bank in 1995 as a Cleaner and not for one day did she relent on her duties. The Governor, speaking through Head Legal and Board Secretary Sikhumbuzo Fakudze said her dedication to her job will never be forgotten. “She would ensure that all the surfaces she touched, were left spotless. I’m told she would spot a dirty interior from miles away and always had her cleaning necessities at hand to dust off whatever needed cleaning. She took it upon herself to rub off this commitment to her colleagues who have duplicated her effort and maintained her legacy,” the Governor said.
He noted that Make Zwane had a way of bringing people together, in particular staff, whenever there was conflict.
“Due to her peaceful and non-confrontational manner, harmony was her middle name and she would go to lengths to promote team work and team spirit among her colleagues. She was mindful of time, and always ensured that she was never late. This attribute made her a unique individual, with a strong work ethic, which I urge all staff emulate,” added the Governor.
