August 28, 2024CBE Team Lead-Canteen and well-known soccer enthusiast, Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula had a befitting soccer-themed farewell last Friday. Magagula has reached the mandatory retirement age of 60. However, due to his meticulous work ethic and the high volume of events that were being hosted by the Bank at the time of his retirement, he was given a three-month contract, which has since come to an end. His colleagues and friends gathered at the CBE Complex in Ezulwini to usher him into retirement. The event was a true reflection of Magagula’s personality and character. Apart from being soccer-themed, his team in the canteen outdid themselves as they celebrated their leader with mouthwatering dishes.
His long-time friends within the football circles shared that Magagula was passionate about the development of soccer in the country, hence he dedicated his free time to grooming young players. Linda Sacolo, Deputy Head- IT Operations and Infrastructure recalled the warm welcome he received from Magagula when he joined the Bank, stating that this contributed immensely to the blossoming of their friendship. “He was a father figure, very kind, and always wanted the best for me,” he said. CBE Canteen Chef, Sindisiwe Manyatsi described Magagula as a prayerful leader who wanted them to continuously perfect their culinary skills. “You taught us unity Mntfombeni and the importance of protecting each other.
You preached teamwork. We are happy that you left a mark in the canteen and the whole Bank can see that,” she said. Meanwhile, the successful completion of the CBE Complex Canteen in Ezulwini was also singled out as one of the major achievements of Magagula. Deputy Governor Felicia Dlamini-Kunene thanked Magagula for his valuable contribution to the Bank which was mostly demonstrated when he was granted a three months contract after his retirement. “This happened at a time when the Bank was at its busiest. I cannot thank you enough Mntfombeni for the amount of effort and work you and your team displayed during the month of May when we had our 50th Anniversary celebration, hosted the SADC Committee of Central Bank Governors (CCBG) as well as the Alliance for Financial Inclusion meetings. You exhibited true resilience and delivered according to expectations.
Pity you will not get a chance to fully utilise one of your main and proudest projects thus far, the CBE Complex Canteen. I know how proud you are of this achievement and it will certainly remain your flagship at the CBE,” she said.
